We are a US-registered non-profit supporting education advancement for youth in Sub-Saharan Africa through guidance, learning programs, and scholarships for school, leadership, and work.

Meet our trustees


Will Sullivan
William Sullivan is an international businessman and development expert. He has spent more than 10 years designing and developing lifesaving information and communication technologies impacting over 18 million hard to reach people in over 20 countries across Africa and Asia. Today, his work focuses on creating employment opportunities in manufacturing and trade for individuals in Central and South America as well as South-Central Africa.
While his career takes him all over the globe, William keeps a house in Chibombo, Zambia, right next door to Our Moon. Being a neighbor to the program turned into a deep personal commitment; after years of watching it grow from his own backyard, he founded Friends of Our Moon Inc. to help secure its future.
Sandra Batakana
Sandra works in Corporate Banking at Bank of America in New York City, where she covers large corporates in the industrials sector. She studied chemistry at Duke University. Born and raised in Uganda, Sandra is passionate about expanding educational access and empowering the next generation of African leaders. As a former student of Helen’s, she has supported Our Moon since its inception and remains deeply committed to its mission of creating opportunities for high‑achieving, low‑income young people to reach their full potential.




Alan Leale-Green
Alan has over 40 years of experience in the securities and futures industries. Running his own compliance consultancy business, he gained a wealth of experience in financial, risk and corporate governance matters. Alan is a Trustee for Our Moon Education and has been involved in the charity since its inception.
Thando Lungu
Thando manages organizational records and supports effective communication across Friends of Our Moon. She is deeply committed to expanding access to quality education and opportunities for financially disadvantaged youth in Zambia, having been a beneficiary of the Our Moon Education Program herself.
Thando earned a BA in Quantitative Economics and Mathematics from Smith College. She began her career at Goldman Sachs as a Private Equity Analyst and currently works as a Data Analyst and Reporting Specialist at Hemenway & Barnes LLP.
